I have a 73 I'm putting together. The original L82 engine is not in it. I do have a 350 from a 73 I parted out. My original plan was the build a 383 from the 350 but found a deal on an LS1. Now I'm pushing around the idea of installing the LS1 in it.

I know the original motor was replaced but the tranny should have been a 400. Where is the markings to id the tranny? Could be they replaced it with a 350. (just want to be sure)
Lastly, are there challenges with mating the LS 1 to the 400/350?
