Default VERDICT , after engine rebuild :)

Finally got Ol BLue back yesterday after waiting 2 months . Heres what the engine rebuild consisted of:

Crank grind and polish, balance of entire rotating assembly, hot tanked block , chamfered oil journal outlets. New Manley H beam Rods, New 9.6 CR Speed Pro Forged Pistons, Lunati Roller Hydr. Cam with Crane Roller Lifters, Manley chromemoly Pushrods, Fluidamper , Total Seal Ring Set with gapless 2nd, Comp Cams dual Roller chain, Melling Hi Flow Oil Pump and screen, all new main and cam bearings (Clevite) . (ALready has new EDL Oval Port HEads and 850 Speed Demon Carb with mech secs, with EDL dual plane airgap Intake, Headers, 2.5" exhaust with x crossover, and twin radiator fans).
Mechanic set timing to 36 degrees total advance.

Upon first driving it, there was a noticable throttle response increase. Oil pressure now holds at 70 psi ; used to be about 55-60 before. I thought id have more of a lope with the 232/242 duration / .575-.595 lift / 112 LSA ....but i reckon due to the balancing job....that helped alot. The lope is about the same as before : not objectionable. Acceleration is simply staggering ; my mechanic jumped on it to make sure nothing was going to fly apart before i picked it up and he said the rear broke loose in 1st, 2nd, and into 3rd. Ill take his word for it, as i dont drive it like that.

Total price tag was :$4615 with me supplying the rods, pistons, cam , and fluidamper. Im very delighted with the work he did. If you live in the north suburbs of Chicago or southern Wisconsin....you want to go to this guy. He is about 35 years old and really takes his work seriously .

We're all jealous, sounds great. Sounds like a real head turner. So take your best friend for a ride. While going slow in 1st lay a $20 bill on the dash, tell your friend that if he can get it he can have it, then............. you know---pedal to the metal. WOW!

Better not dig into the throttle then, you just might become addicted! :)

Sounds quite awesome, man. I agree, I'm definitely jealous.

I debated whether to have a full blown engine rebuild, or, to just have new rings and rear main seal put in, which it needed. I considered the fact that i was going to keep this car for a very long time, i found too many bubba things which the last guy did so i thought maybe the engine was bubbaized a bit also, i wanted a durable power plant , a reliable power plant, and wanted to pick up a few extra ponies from a somewhat radical hydr. roller cam . The other factor, was, that i have finally found an ace mechanic who knows vettes and engines very well - he has 10 other customers with older vettes and hes had 5 vettes in his family. That swayed me to pop for the full blown engine rebuild too , knowing it was going to be done right the first time. I went thru severe withdrawls for 2 months...but it was worth it.

Now....if the stock M21 and rear end holds out...that will be just peachy-keen .
