Default 68 rear diff options

I've got an open diff unfortunately, with 3.70's in it, and i'm looking to go posi. Thus far i have only found Auburn to have a posi unit for it... was hoping eaton would but i'm not finding the part number for it... any other options?

I would get a Lock Right by Richmond gear, very strong.
I have one in my 65 stang with 550 HP superchargerd 347 and run it HARD, and yes they have one for the Vette

I'm lost. Posi was optional for 68 and 69 and standard 70-79. You ought to be able to find a used Posi unit without having to go to the aftermarket.

sure, I'm just concerned about buying "used"...I've been burned before with "used" posi so I tend to look for brand new aftermarket if/as possible
Any good reputable places that sale those used and back up their products?

To replace the carrier unit Your going to rebuild the whole rear end anyway. So rebuilding a used Posi carrier is just one more step in the process. Except You could do it ahead of time before removing the rest of the unit. Another option would be to just replace the whole thing with a used unit that has the gear ratio and Posi You want.

Send your differential to a well known builder and have them supply the used or new posi with a complete rebuild and they will give you a complete Warranty!

I'm simply surprised that there is very little choices for posi units for 68-79 vettes....was thinking it would be like any other muscle cars... I'll keep my eyes open for a used unit or go with Auburn... might call Eaton see what they have...or re-trofit something else.

Because there's very little market for them. A corvette rearend fits one car, a corvette. A ford 9" or a GM 10 or 12 bolt fits many many different cars. Besides that, 99.9% of all corvettes already have a posi rearend. Go buy a used one and have it rebuilt.

ok, found out Eaton has one to fit our cars, part number 19670-010 (for anyone that would need it). Summit has them and other online stores, looks like I'll be going that route, since it's a brand new unit.

You might try Tom's Differentals in Idaho. His web sight will list just about every option available for the Vette IRS. Keep in mind that the 80-82 used a Dana 44, which is not what You have.
