Default Radiator and fan question.

I have a '69 coupe with a 427 and 5 speed. I'm having trouble choosing an electric fan. I have a stock 4 row radiator and wonder if I would benefit from an aluminum radiator and an electric fan or should I not waste my money?
So which electric fan or fan and radiator combo should I use?

A good aluminum radiator like a Dewitts would probably be a benefit to you. That's what I am running in my 68 427/390. I am also running the stock clutch fan. If all your seals are in place and the timing is set properly a stock set up coupled with a Dewitts aluminum should work fine.

If you do not run hot then maybe you have other things you can spend the money on. I am not saying upgrading is a bad thing with the cooling system I am just saying if it is not broke you have all you can expect now.

Also I personally have a lot of friends with electric fans , and so many carry a spare temp sensor or relay for the electric fans it has always made me skeptical of the reliability. And when we are talking about a vital system like cooling I tend to keep it simple if possible.

You don't need one. The stock cooling system in good working order will be fine.

EXACTLY!

BUT.....if you absolutely/positively can't live without an electric fan.....get a PUSHERFAN that produces at least 2200 CFM and fits on the front of the radiator/A.C coils where there is more room for installation....also add a electric-fan-switch that is rated 10*F higher than your thermostat...... and add a relay to automatically operate the fan with the ignition switch turned to the "key in Run" position (to keep from running the battery down when the key is turned to ACCY or OFF).

Ok, then I guess I'll just look for a stock fan and shroud then.

I would imagine that a Dewitt Rad. would be a bit pricey.

I can get the stock parts for around $400.00 for J+D Corvette Parts. So I'm thinking for cost savings to go with an electric fan again.

So back to my original question. Which do I use?
