I have been working on the electrical, had the headlamps working as far as electrical, but now they don't work.
Every other light in the car works. the markers, backup, taillights inside and all.
I don't know what to look for or really where to look to see what the issue is. I tried to retrace my steps to see what could have happened, but not sure. I did check the ground that goes to the alternator, none of the fuses are blown.
I assume the switch is ok, since the dimmer works, the inside lights work etc.
i dont know what year your car is, but the headlight switch has a circuit breaker built into it. power travels from the switch to the dimmer switch , then to the lights. heres a diagram of what it looks like. the circuit breaker may have opened, dimmer switch may be at fault, do the bright lights work? http://www.corvetteforum.net/c3/tune.../index11.shtml
I went out and tried the high beams. and.. they worked. after I clicked it 1 time the lights came on, click again it went to highbeams, click again then normal. all the other lights still work. dimmer, inside, backups, markers. turn the lights off, and then on, retested it all.
That is a little concerning to me to be honest. not to mention freaky.
worn contacts in the dimmer switch probably. or some loose wiring under the column. it may bite you again someday and switch replacement will be necessary.... good luck.
