1974 ignition help
The car ran great.
I removed the distributor, replaced the speedo drive gear and main shaft as the speedo did not work. Put it all back together and fired up and drove fine. However, when I went to start it back up, it acted like the battery was low and would not turn the starter. I checked all the connections and tapped them and the car fired up. That was Sunday.
Today I decided to fire it up and the batter box was up as the trickle charger was connected. When I fired it up it made the seemingly low batter noise coupled with sparks flying off the negative and positive posts of the battery connections. It sounded like an arc welder!
I disconnected both terminals to be safe.
What is going on??
Thanks in advance
Bob

Try cleaning the connection or tightening it. To me, it really seems like it's that simple of an issue.

If there are sparks flying from your battery terminals, that's your first problem. Start there.
