Gents,
I replaced my standard steering column with a liberated tilt/tele from another 73. When I did, I ordered and installed new screws, shims and a horn contact because they were all a little rusty. The column had 3 shims and I reinstalled 3 new shims. My problem is when I bump the steering wheel too hard our pull the tlit lever and let the wheel pop up the horn blows. I'm thinking the new horn switch is a tad too sensitive and I should probably try another one but I wanted to see if anyone thought it might be something else. Thanks.
mine, if i back up and turn the wheel hard the horn blows. haven't tried to diagnose it yet , but it should be fun. my colum is < 12k miles and un molested except i changed the key / switch
It's been quite a while, but I believe that I found an oem contact on the bay. I rebuilt another contact that was rusted and not making electrical contact by carefully disassembling and cleaning. If I remember correctly, one of the suppliers sells rebuild parts (the nylon bushings) needed.
