Default 82 rear removal

I have a entire batwing with taller gears I want to swap into my 82.

Are there any tips or tricks to removing the rear on this car.

Thank you in advance.

As long as the half-shaft u-joints match the new rear all should be good. If I remember correctly, 80 and 81 cars with manual transmission and 82 cars used the same u-joints. Automatic trans cars in 80 and 81 used smaller u-joints so they would work. If the new rear end you have is from an earlier automatic car you will probably have to switch the half shafts and outer flanges at the trailing arms. Not a big job but not so easy which everything is mounted on the car.

The rest of it is just nuts and bolts. I would not remove the links at the shock brackets. Just unbolt at the center and drop them out of the way.

I always like to have a couple of jack stands handy to support the trailing arms and brake assemblies while taking the half shafts off. It's a pretty straight forward job. You will need metric and SAE tools on the '82.

The new rear is already rebuilt and sealed up. I was planning on just replacing the entire batwing. Is it just unbolt the half shafts, driveshaft, unbolt from spring, upper mounts and lower mount. With c clamps and wood blocks. ??
