Default HVAC controls

I'm in the process of assembling my 74's interior and my heater/AC control looks like there should be 2 cables, one going to each wheel but there is only one cable. The left side wheel has the pin/lever that slides back and forth and there is one of the retainers screwed on the bend so I assume there used to be a cable. I've looked everywhere and can't find a diagram with this anywhere. The right wheel's cable goes to the heater blend door I assume. Can anyone help?

Do you have the assembly instruction manual (AIM)? The AIM shows the installation of the HVAC controls and the cables. Don't quote me, but there may only be one cable on the temperature select side (cool to hot).

The other side (left wheel) actuates a vacuum valve that diverts vacuum to different doors in the HVAC system depending on where the wheel is positioned. I believe there are something like 8 vacuum lines going to various points under the dash and one source vacuum line coming in from the engine compartment.

The AIM does show this, and has diagrams of which line goes where in the system. Very complicated...I hate vacuum systems...

Thank you Mike, you were correct. First time resto, lots of head scratchers. Label everything is the lesson learned.

Just went through this on my 73. Only one cable which goes to the air flow divert door. The small rubber vacuum manifold pushes on the other side and is held in place by one screw. I used the diagrams Wilcox provides on their website...

The AIM helps. They're worth their price.
