Default Headers that will fit a '79 model

Does any C3 Forum member recommend a hugger-type header (make and model) that will fit my '79 model? I know about the McJacks headers, but these are beyond my budget. The Sanderson CC2 headers look like a possible candidate? As you know there is not much room because of the steering box on drivers side and idler arm on passenger side. So that probably eliminates many of the nice looking inexpensive stainless headers available for the SBC classified as hugger-type headers. I would love to go stainless if possible. Thanks for any/all responses in advance. I am interested in what you have experienced and learned.

I went with painted from Summit on my 79 SUM-G9003, they bolted right up, no bending or notching and cleared everything with plenty of room. Sorry no experience with stainless or ceramic.

At the price ($117.00) figure if they get rough looking, cheap to replace them LOL.

Kinda tough to see them but they fit right in.

from what I have read shorty headers don't have much advantage over the larger stock cast iron stock systems

Thanks for your reply and recommendation. The photo is great too as this shows how well the make/model you are using fits. I believe Summit has your same model ceramic coated. I also like your spark plud wire routing system. Where did you find this?

Thanks for your reply. Do you mean the stock cast 2" collector manifolds, or the manifolds with a 2 1/2" collector?

Picked those up at the local Advance Auto. I like the way they keep the wires up and away from the exhaust and you can take the entire side of wires off and keep them in order as well.

Jet-Hot or HTC-coated Hedman SBC Headers #68300.

I've had my Jet-Hot coated #68301's (with AIR tubes) since 1999.

Hello C3 Forum members. Thanks for all of your recommendations so far. Very helpful. I have learned that according to Corvette Central the Patriot model H8019 fits with no clearance issue, plus they sell pre-fab front exhaust pipes for them that are custom made ready to install. According to the dimensions for this header provided in the Patriot catalog I would have expected an issue with the steering box on drivers's side of the engine, but Corvette Central claims that there is no issue.

I believe those are the same headers that came with my CC exhaust system. I have been running them for about 5 years now, and I am very happy with them.
