i have 79 corvette that, i just put dual exhuast, edelbrock performer intake and edelbrock carb and new dual hump heads on it....
can anyone tell me if it is worth it to replace all of the bushings in the front and rear suspension?
when i put the car into gear i hear and feel this drop(almost like it pops).
any thoughts would be great
thanks
Most likely your differential mount bushing at the front of your differential. The one on my '79 was shot and I got a thunk and a drop when I put the car in gear. Put a new one on and problem solved.
The differential front mount for sure, but I'd inspect them all. Age, wear, and chemical deterioration take a toll on the original ones. A leaking power steering system ruined the front driver side lower ones on mine. Age got the rest of them. I'm replacing them all.
The trailing arm bushings in the rear tend to last a long time. Generally, they are out of the weather. The lower strut rod bushings see more road spray, etc, and tend to need replacing sooner.
For a street car, use the stock type rubber bushings.
When you are disconnecting the spring, BE CAREFUL. It has enough stored energy in it to hurt you badly.
