Have any of you guys had a problem with your POWER STEERING CYLINDER BRACKET? Mine looks a though it was broken/knocked off at one time and a 5 year old welded it back on. It looks terrible AND unsafe. I have not driven the car any distance(just around the block) since I got it 4 years ago. Still a work in progress. I'm now getting to this steering area and concerned with this bracket. I have a welder that has a car lift in the area and I guess I'm going to see if he can do it. I weld a little bit and have a small wire welder, but I think this bracket really needs to get burnt in, so I'm not going to trust my welding or my little wire welder. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a problem with this bracket falling/getting knocked off.
I'm attaching the Bracket and Diagram. I don't even know if it's suppose to be welded. In the diagram it just shows a "Reinforcement". Thanks for your help.

If you're interested, I have the original, unwelded one that came off of my 77 when I installed a Borgeson steering box. $10 including shipping. Pm me if interested.
Looking at the pic, I can't see any damage to your bracket. If that's correct, all you need are the 2 reinforcements w/ nuts and washers to bolt it back in place. The reinforcements need to be installed inside the frame, and there should be access openings and bolt holes in the frame to install them, unless your frame has been modified.
I see that Rotonda has offered to sell you the parts. If his parts include the reinforcements, you probably won't get a better deal anywhere.
Also, the bracket is a casting. Welding cast iron causes embrittlement, unless the metal is properly stress relieved. I don't recommend that you weld it back on, especially when your other option is readily available.
Hope this helps.
