Back ground info..... I body off my 79 to fix a frame issue, uneven ride height due to frame being bend. Car was hit in left front long before I got it, ride height issues is when I noticed. Bare frame went to frame shop, was told it was diamond @1/4". So far everything is going together good, suspension & rack-n-pinion but I think frame has a new bend somewhere.
This is left mount, sitting down bolt is easy going in and out
This is right side. Too far off, never had any motor this far off.
Thinking frame is spread apart at mounts. Front of frame measures ok @ 32 13/16" as does the #1 mount.
Can anyone tell me how far apart the motor mount frame brackets are, center to center of hole?
It's common. Loosen the other mount and jack the motor up with a floor jack and board.
You may have to pry a little or loosen the bolts but it will go. It's not very far off.
I take that back. I didn't realize the first two picks were of the same side but try it anyway. If you can't get the mount to flex enough with a pry bar , than you have to make up some spacers to place between the mount and engine.
When the W motor first came out Chevy had a handfull of Vettes with them for experiental purposes. The early W's performance was a mixed bag so Chevy thought they could do more with the SB performance wise. I believe there is a manufacturer who now produces W motors out of aluminum alloy and reinforced cranks and main bearings and other improvemments. Too cool.
