Yes a 4 speed is different since it doesn't have the automatic trans cooler in it. Excellent condition, $200.00 plus shipping. I can check dimensions if interested but it came out of my 1970 vette.

I ask about the transmission, not only for the internal automatic cooler, but because early C3's (68-72) had two small block radiators.

The base cars, with no AC, no Automatic, and base engine (no RPO) came with this radiator.

]

This was a factory installed, high performance aluminum radiator and since it has no filler neck it uses a separate aluminum surge tank. This is what we refer to as our "Restoration Radiator" because they are exact reproductions of the original and will pass all levels of judging.

We also offer a Direct Fit replacement for this model and it cost about $300 less.

The above two radiators mount with two 1/2" pins, 11" apart on the bottom of the radiator.

If the car received any one of the above options, or a combination of them, then the radiator was the larger 26" copper/brass radiator, with no surge tank. Now, here is where it gets a little confusing....Some catalogs will list the smaller as the "Manual/No Air" radiator but that doesn't tell the whole story. You could have an LT1 or a L46 with Manual/noair and that would be the copper radiator.

Thanks, I probably get a new one. I have already gone through this project once 4 years ago and really don't want to do it again. I am just not a big fan of antifreeze everywhere.

Mine does not look like that one, it looks more like the black ice you sent me the other day. It's base motor 350 / 270 and I am going to sell the car soon to pursue l46. 4 years ago my buddy and my removed removed rad and sent it out to be refurbished but it broke again. I can't stand antifreeze with dogs around. Thank you

Those things might influence just what radiator will be a good choice for you.
A 71, 350/270, 4-speed, no a/c car, would have originally typically had an aluminum radiator and a simple round steel fan shroud. Perhaps some things have been changed over the years.
Regards,
Alan

I agree that a radiator from DeWitts is a good choice.
Hello Alan, it's been a long time since I have heard from you. It has no overflow tank and the shroud around the fan is plastic. Thank you

If you are replacing the radiator because of a leak, it is a good time to take a look at the support and front cross member.

My 71 is relatively rust free. However because of some old radiator leaks, my support and cross member had significant rust to the point that there were holes.

Wrestling with the shrouds is painful, I replaced all these components so I didn't have to mess with the shrouds again (hopefully...)

Wow and thank you. I did it once previously 4 yrs ago and am not a big fan of antifreeze everywhere especially with the dog. I am very seriously considering paying GM $250 to do it this time. Thanks!

Let me know if you are interested,

Hi Rob, do you still have this rad? Is it the original rad for your car? $$

Hi Pete,
As far as I know it is the original radiator. As I said, I had a radiator shop check and clean it and it tested just fine. I never had a heating issue with it when I was using it. Since I am using electric fans I purchased acomplete kit.
I am asking $200.00 plus shipping.
