On a C3 with a 350, how hard is it to add fuel injection to an engine that came with a carb, and is there the possibility of interchangeable parts with other corvette engines (various years) with either an EFI, cross-fire or tunnel-port system? Which system and engine year/options do you like the best and why? What about the corvette-based engines found in some Z28s and Firebird TAs over the last decade? :)
Re: Fuel Injection and interchangeable parts ... (777daytona)
Have seen a few TBI and TPI systems fitted from junk yards. The TBI is easiest since it is basical a carb with injectors but still some work to hook up all the comp stuff and sensors.
Re: Fuel Injection and interchangeable parts ... (777daytona)
The mechanicals are easy, really, it the wiring that drives most guys crazy...
but in fact it's really no big deal either....just keep track of what you are doing, and write it down....colors, positions, pinouts...the works...
service lit copies are fine, just wiring diagrams...
an L98 is a direct bolt on for any earlier chebby SB engine....
by the LT1 daze starting in '92 in the vettes, and elsewhere in other car lines...it became more of an issue...not un-do-able...but gotta be really sharp and be willing to spend money....
so the easy answer is YES plenty of stuff around to do a DPFI for any earlier chebby SB.....for about 700 bux or so....
Re: Fuel Injection and interchangeable parts ... (777daytona)
I keep going back to the Holly Stealth Ram setup, pricey, but very, very cool and it will work on an 90's LT-1. Otherwise I'm looking at Street and Performance's TPI setups, again very pricey but I want the show quality stuff and don't have a lot of desire piecing a system together from a junkyard and trying to make it work on my application, easier for me to write a check and probably worlds faster.
Re: Fuel Injection and interchangeable parts ... (Budman78)
That Holley Stealth Ram is nasty indeed but seems like youd have a hell of a time fitting it underneath a stock hood, even an L-88 hood. Maybe it would fit underneath a 4" high rise hood. Thats one on a "Many things to get list!"
