Has anyone replaced the stock steering wheel on a '76 vette with an
aftermarket wheel? My '76 has tilt and tele. Will the available adaptors
work with this option and did you encounter any problems?
The thing to remember with a 1976 Vette with T&T, the actual steering column is identical to the 1969 through 1975 Vette T&T. However, the steering wheel, the stamped extension, the hub, horn, and telescope locking mechanism is unique for the 1976. If you can obtain, the 1969 through 1975 extension, hub, horn, and telescoping parts. Any aftermarket steering wheel that is listed for a 1969-1975 Vette will fit your car.
Go to http://www.corvettefaq.com and look under Steering. I have posted the 1969 - 1975; the 1976, and the 1977-1982 AIM sheets for the steering wheel and attaching parts. This might help you to figure out the various parts.
BTW, I had a 1976. I was able to install a 1977 leather wrapped wheel on my 1976 steering column. I just used the hub, extension, telescoping mechanism, and horn parts from the 1977.
Hope this helps,

I would like to replace mine as well but have not found out how. The only adapter I can find is the one below. It came out about a year ago and as far as I know there is not one for tilt/tel. If you do find a way without swaping out the column I would be very interested. Good Luck
