Default Re-Installing Power Antenna '80 Help..

Shortly after getting my vette the power antenna decided to fall into the rear Fender and the nut was lost. I finally removed and tested it. Luckily it still works as it should.

I ordered a replacement nut and am planning on reinstalling this weekend. Can anyone tell me how exactly it attaches? Is it held in just by the nut or do I need attach it some other way?

Thanks in Advance!!

I bought the wrench for tightening it when it occured to me that I might scratch the paint. It is anchored below beside the drivers side muffler with on or two bolts

My bolts must be gone. Any idea of their size?

Unless you are restoring it for judging, I'd say whatever works as far as size. I don't say that to sound like a smart azz. I have a big bin of odds and ends and always seem to find something appropriate in it.

If they're for that original bracket as shown in the pic they are metric.
Can't remember the size off hand but they are comparable with 1/4" sae bolts.
If you need that lower bracket I got one, $15 plus shipping.
This is all assuming you're dealing with an original factory style antenna, not anything aftermarket.

I'm gonna check it out once the nut arrives to make sure that bracket is still there. I know my antenna is the original.
