Carburetor leakage!
I changed my spark plugs last night (what a pain that was!) and noticed a very strong smell of gas, I checked my carb and saw little puddles of gas on my manifold. It wasn't coming from the gas line, that was on secure. I looked at the gasket and it looked like it was coming from there, can gas leak from the gasket, do I need a new one (I don't know much about carb's)?

if its your plugs, then break out the epoxy......
take the carb off...
yank the throttle plate thingie off the bottom..
and epoxy up all the bowl plugs...
put on new gaskets..
and yer good ta go.

heres a pic to help you see where they are.. did this a while ago....
you have to remove the bottom throttle plate....its easy enough, just a few long screws....
there is an additional plug not circled in the picture i think.... i forget how many plugs there are on a quadrajet...

Thanks, this is a big help! When I get home I will take the carb off and take a look. If this is the problem it will be a lot cheaper!

Don't get a new carb. Check the gaskets on the bolts for the fuel bowels, thoses go bad easey. Check the mettering block and fuel bowel gaskets too and you migt also need a new accelerator pump diaphram. It is all very easy to fix, only 4 bolts to get off the bowels and only 4 screws for the diaphram. Sray some carb cleaner/throtle body cleaner on it and wipe it good. Then if you start the car agin you could see where it is coming from. PS... don't blow your self up :chevy

It's most likely the fuel bowl gaskets on a Holley but could be accelerator pump diaphragm or .......time for a kit

Holley rebuild kits are cheap and easy to install. $20 or $30, you will also want a gallon of carb cleaner so you can soak it. We can walk you through this one pretty easy. In fact, you can probably figure this out easily yourself.
