So I've put in the tranny this last weekend and I'm trying to figure out if there should be any play in the clutch fork. It seems like there is more than there is suppose to be, is there a way that I can check if the fork is installed correctly or maybe some sort of trick to it. I know there is not much to installation, however, I'm not sure if maybe the bearing slipped off the end of the fork. Just seems like something is off. Thanks in advance.

Just to be sure, you are checking only the clutch fork, right? The whole assembly gets pretty sloppy after 40 years. I replaced everything with spherical bearings.
The throwout bearing can be incorrectly installed, there are numerous pictures here somewhere. But there should be some tolerance just to keep it from riding on the pressure plate fingers.

Yeah, Im only checking the clutch fork. I have a new fork, bearing, clutch and clutch plate. It doesn't have much forward play in it, but more up and down.
