Default Help with my carb please

Hey Guys,
I just had a friend rebuild my q jet for me.He's a great mechanic and knows all about q jets so I don't think he did anything to mess it up.
Unfortunately, he is out of town for a family emergency and I can't get in contact with him.

The problem is that it idles very fast (1800rmp) and is very rich. When I turn back the fast idle screw it just shuts off. I set the adjustment screws at 2 1/2 turns to start, but turning the more makes little or no difference, vacuum gauge show around 13.
Also, does the idle adjust screw look right?(see photo)
It's not making contact so it can't be adjusted.

Any insight would be much appreciated.

If the fast idle system is engaged, the curb idle screw should not contact the throttle stop.

What cam specs are you running?

Yes psycho dad, even the stock a jets have those screws. It sounds like your fast idle screw it too tight or the choke adjustment is off. Do you have any manuals? Even if the manual is for another GM car? It hard to explain in writing but a manual will show illustrations on what screw to turn.

I am making some progress. I turned the 2 screws in the front out some more, then I was able to loosen the fast idle screw without stalling. I'm down to 1200 rpm idle now, still a little rich. I can get it driveable enough to drive the 25 miles to my friends garage next nice day.

He did fix the choke that was not working since I bought the car, that is probably what is off.

Update!!!
My problem was I had the wrong mounting gasket (Plate?)
It looked the same as the original except there was a divot taken out of the front by the secondaries. I put the old one back on and just needed to adjust the curb idle and front screws.
Now, on the the next project.
