Default '72 BB coupe door ajar switch

Bubba removed the LH door ajar switch and taped the wires. In installing a new switch I followed the wiring diagram and connected the light blue and black wires to the new switch and it all works fine. However there is in the same location a white wire with the correct termination to fit the switch. The switch has openings for three connections.

Any idea what the white wire is for and if it should be added to the switch. It has no voltage on it. When voltage is applied to it I don't see any result.

The three wires are ground, door ajar, and alarm. The white wire is to trigger the stock alarm.
