I've put new glass in my 68 and had to replace the window crank shafts as the teeth were about worn off. I had previously purchased new window cranks but apparently I have the worst repros ever made!! The teeth are undefined and unless I press against the door panel forcefully, the cranks spin. Where would I go to find a good set to replace the originals which broke apart when removed. Should never have gone 'on the cheap' Thanks
I'm currently restoring the insides of each door on my '68 and I was lucky they weren't damaged. Mine were getting so hard to roll up and down I knew any minute something was going to give and break. The grease in there is solid as a rock! I tore everything out and cleaned it all up and sent it off to get yellow zinc plated. Going to grease everything back up and she should work like new again.
I hope you are able to find yours. The big concern is you're going to have to find a car with a manual window.
where would I find originals if that's my only option? mine broke in half as I removed them!!!
Call J&D Corvette in Bellflower California. They can be found with Google.
They have a Corvette salvage yard. With a Southern Cali salvage yard there's a little probability of getting a less rusted part. I've bought salvage parts from them, along with repair services.
