Sure the adapter I need is back in my boxes back in Germany, but don't have it here in Vegas... What type of an adapter do I need for this 105 amp alternator???
Is this adapter something I can get at Autozone/Napa??? Does this need to be plugged in for the alternator to charge the battery??? When I did a search, found the adapter for the CS130 style alternator, but don't think that is mine...
Also, there was some black goop on the new front harness... Is this normal??? The engine compartment harness did not have this goop on the wires...
dbelectronics.com or do a search for Durangoboy. He had a few write ups on conversions.
Thanks much... I did read some of those old write-ups and most were tailored to a CS130/CS144 alternator which I don't think I have...
I just got off the phone with March Performance (where I got the alternator) and tech support said I only need the hot wire and a ground from the case to the engine... Something tells me I still need something in this plug, but will give it a shot...
The picture of your alternator looks like the cs 130-140. The adapter is available to go from that to your stock wiring, for a 73 you will need the adapter with the resister built in.

Sure looks like a CS130 to me (base on the limited view of the pic).
The 144 is physically larger (than the SI10-12's, not much but enough that stock brackets need to be adjusted though)
BTW. Some of the converted wires resistor wires sold through NAPA (and a few vette venders) are missing the resistor. Apparently a large amount were miss-boxed and out there. I've got two....

Thanks guys... What are the "Cons" for not hooking this up before I ship the vehicle to Germany?? In other words, what capability does the car lose without this plug???
Found an adapter w/resistor on Ebay for $15, just can't get it here before the car is picked up...

One of the two wires in the plug (we don't use all the pins) should be what actually trips the alternator into "charging" so I don't see how it would even work without it. That said, there have been some recent(ish) trends towards single wire alternators (130 and 144's) so maybe March did that (I have my doubts)

Thanks Brett... The tech at March was pretty emphatic that it was a single wire alternator and just to tape my old connector back into the wiring harness... As long as it charges properly, I am good with that for now...

Then your probably set
Worse comes to worse it simply won't energize and start to charge, no harm, no foul.
you can get a 12si to cs adapter at NAPA....see within
go to the thread below and read post 27..... it should work for your CS alternator after you measure your ckt....I got my adapter at NAPA after taking the reading and it worked right and made everything easy.....and it will let me install a 12si if I can't find a CS-144 ....but they're both real common nowadays.
That alternator in your picture looks like a CS130 and March uses them on many of their kits.
Would like to know your year, engine and March kit, how does it fit.

Thanks Mike... I have the March Corvette Revolver kit... Fits great... If I were to redesign the kit, I would add tensioning pulleys and an option for a power steering tank on the Type II pump... Happy with the look, fit and functionality of the kit, so far...
Okay experts, car is back to running condition again... Now that the alternator is hooked up, what's the easiest way for me to check to see if it is charging/working??
Yepper, just did the test at the battery... 12.5v engine off, 14.5v with engine running... This is telling me the battery is getting charged, correct???

Yes, and best is if it does it at idle with HVAC running full blast...
