Jupp,the only way is to paint..You have to be really carefull to remove all of the edges of the stripe,or they will show after the paint.I freind of mine painted his car,and theres still some traces of the pinstipe .. :mad

SOMETIMES, you can (carefully) use a buffer to remove it. A lot will depend on the paint used both for the car's finish and for the striping. The downside is that the lettering enamel most stripers use will have caused some swelling of the car's finish that will be visible even after the stripe is gone.

3M makes a wheel just for that, I don’t remember what it is called but it worked well. It is kinda like an eraser. Go to an auto paint store and ask them, they will know. :)
