Harley riders are running into the same problem with open exhaust. In between pulses, oxygen swirls back into the exhaust steam. This gets picked up by the O2 sensor.
You either have to baffle the side pipes or return to a full exhaust.

it means there is no solutions to fix this problem without back to original exhaust !!
i fixed the o2 sensor on the passenger side on the collector , this is fyi
I used a Bosch 15717. Got it at advance auto. Mine is located on the passenger side collector a hair above the 3 o'clock position, angled slightly downward to keep condensation from getting inside. There are 3 wires on this sensor. Ground, switched hot and signal. Once computer sees correct o2 count should lean out. Hope this helps, mine has works perfect for almost 2 years.
By the way if your still running crossfire you should have gotten a check engine light. If your not than either your bulb is out or the PO disabled it somehow.
I have hooker side mounts with the max flow inserts.the o2 sensor is about 3or 4 inches from the primary exits on the driver side no issues with cel or smoking rich.slight chevy puf when you first start it after sitting for a few days or so ,other than that no problems.make sure the sensor is grounded good if its a single wire.
I used the OEM sensor after I installed the exhaust. The problem I had was at cruise speed the cel would go off and on until I got some heat on it. I had the laptop hooked up and the data capture showed a constant cycling between open and closed loop. Installed heated sensor, problem went away and car runs great. I hope this helps. I joined this forum after I bought this car, great amount of knowledge here.
It won't throw a check light unless the o2 can't see the mixture it's looking for or if it's stays in open loop. Heated sensors will get you into closed loop but if it's still picking up fresh air inside the side pipe, you still have a problem. As much as we love open side pipes on the street, I would still go with the slight baffling as suggested above. It may even cost the same as switching to heated sensors with less work or hassle from the cops.
