Default Steeriods R&P

Hi,
Has anyone installed a "Steeroids Rack & Pinion conversion kit on a 1970 or similar manual steer. I've read all the testimonials and fact sheets and about to got to to the expense of having a kit shipped to Australia. So I thought i'd put it out there first to see if anyone has had any first hand experience.
Thank you
Roger.

Hi Roger,

I fitted a Steeriods kit to my 71. Mine was already power steering so I utilised the existing pump.
Very easy kit to install and I like to way it steers now.
I am also in Australia, I had an engineering report done and the vehicle licensed in WA with it fitted.
A link to some pictures.

Thanks Brad, I haven't heard anything bad, anything has to be better than manual steer, especially with wider than original tyres. I will need to get a pump, bracket and hoses to complete the job. Speed Direct seem OK.

Roger,

I am an authorised distributor of the Borgeson integral power steering boxes and have one fitted to my 1974 coupe. I've read a lot of stories on this Forum of problems that some people have had with some of the R&P systems out there. Header interference, reduction of steering lock, bump steer, inability to fit deeper oil pans, flimsy brackets, etc. Plus the cost of having one shipped or flown to Oz. I have Borgeson boxes here in Melbourne and these bolt straight in, use ALL of the GM designed steering linkages and retain the full steering lock.

I can supply Borgeson pumps, brackets and pulley, hose kits, etc. Call me on 03 9502 3227 any evening. I'll be pleased to help you get your Corvette steering like a 21st century car, and for a lot less than any power R&P kit.

Regards from Down Under.
