Time to do something about the trailing arms on the "65", is it cost effective to rebuild or purchase rebuilt? Who has the best rebuilt units?
I have the tools and the ability to do the work .
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
You can do the work yourself by doing a search of "trailing arms" in the TECH forum. I learned much by reading many of the articles and rebuilt my T.A.s. myself. If you are financially blessed, buy a rebuilt pair or new pair....then rebuild the originals yourself as time allows---you will enjoy the experience.
Originally I had contacted a well known builder from CT. Unfortunately our schedules didnt mesh up well, but he did give me plenty of useful advice.
I ended up contacting Bairs, and couldnt have been happier with the service and pricing. They send you boxes for the arms, and you mail those boxes back with your dirty control arms inside. I think it was a gentleman named Ed that I worked with, and this guy was just great.
I had my half shafts rebuilt by Van Steel, and based on the quality of work they did on those parts, I would also recommend their services as well.
Watched those, before deciding to have a shop do mine for me... Lol. Does not look to be impossible... But I don't have a proper shop setup at my place to do it, nor the specialty tools...
Mine should be done from the shop any day now, just waiting for the call... Then reinstall, and good to go... Not sure what my 'final' bill will be... But ordering a new set looked to be around $1600, re manufactured set or offset trailing arms $1300, many shops will rebuild yours for $300-450 a side plus shipping or extra parts...
