the vibration problem in my 73 was discovered when I had my wheels balanced once again and the guy who was doing them noticed the rims were bent, I might go with the Torque Thrusts and was wondering if the disk braks are a problem and what back space I must have, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Mine are vintage torque thrust 15 inch wheels. They clear the stock disk brake caliper-but it's close. The back set is 3-1/4; wheels are 8-1/2.The back set is also a close fit to the e-brake bracket and the leaf spring--but a 3-1/2 inch back set would work, probably clear the e-brake by 1/4 inch. I don't know how the new compare to the old.
My 68 had 15 inch TT's when I bought it. The spacing between spokes and calipers was about the width of a dime. I do not remember the back space. Replaced with 17 inch TT with 4.1 inch back space. The caliper clearance is greater on them. I like the look of the bigger wheel personally. I found the best prices at wheelsforless.com.
I have the 15 x 7 on my '69, did not have enough clearance for tires I wanted with the 8.5's. I have spacers, 1/4 inch if I remember right. american racing makes a special lug nut for applications where spacers are used. be sure to get a set.
You generally can't count on the Torque Thrusts clearing the Corvette brakes. Corvette Central sells TT's that they have specially built for them to fit the Corvette brakes. I have a set of the 15x8's on my '79. Don't know what the backspacing is but they position the tires about 1/2" further out than the stock wheels. I like the look.
