I looked for an answer to this one. There is a lot of horn issues but I didn't see mine, of coarse! My horn contact was missing. I just bought a new horn contact. But when i install it, on top of the steering wheel as I believe it goes, the prong underneath is short by a good 1/2 inch to reaching the spring loaded rod? The rod sticks through the hub about 1/2 inch. Is that correct? I can bubba it but would like to do it right. Any insight?
Yes, horn sounds when I ground the pin. Just cant get the contact anywhere near the pin with the contact!
Do you have a tele column? The tele column uses a different contact, than the straight column. The tab on the bottom of it is longer than the tab on the contact for the straight column.

Someone may have taken the original parts out and replaced them with the wrong parts, which is the problem I have with my '68 straight column horn button assembly being 1/2" too short to make contact.
I ordered a replacement horn contact assembly kit for a 1968 Corvette/Straight column ONLY from GRANT STEERING WHEELS.
