Default question on installing headers

I bought a set of headman headers regular length (not shorties), I am going to install them tomorrow. the car is an 81 with ac. Is there a trick to installing them? The car is a 4 spd if that matters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

no tricks. just remove and reinstall.
They go in from the bottom, and there should be plenty of clearance to get them in.
Pull the starter out, It makes getting the Dipstick tube back in a little easier.
you'll have to unbolt the A/C compressor also. and you'll need to reuse the spacer and bolt on the right front header bolt for the a/c mount. you may need to add washers behind the spacer so it's the right length.

Remove spark plugs and install from the bottom

Might have to remove your oil dip stick tube as well.......

disconnect the battery, since you'll be working around the starter area. safety first.......

Liberally spray the exhaust manifold bolts with a good penetrant tonight, let it soak in overnight. Tomorrow, utter a short prayer to whatever deity you worship, asking him/her to not let the bolts snap. Good luck,

Scott

but check the starter first. I had to pull my header off to change out my starter wasn't enough room to get it in and out.

I find it makes things easier to put a couple studs in the heads to hang the headers from while starting the rest of the header bolts.
