LT-1 oil pickup for 6qt pan
My oil pan gasket is leaking and I happened to find an original LT1 6qt pan for my SBC 350. Does anyone know if the oil pickup is the same as the 4qt pan? It looks like the oil sump is longer but the height looks the same. I have a Borgesson steering box so I don't have the power steering clearance issues.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

Actually both pans, the 4 qt. and the 5 qt. take the same height pickups, the difference is in the tube length only.
The shorter sump takes a shorter tube, the longer sump takes the longer tube! (See the photo below)
Thanks, Gary in N.Y.
P.S. Here's the difference, I don't have part numbers this evening! The longer one I believe came on all the LT-1 units also. I do have photo's of the pans, but not this evening.

the one for the LT-1 and the L-82 are made to clear the windage tray. how can they be the same if they are different? if one pan is deeper how can either work? the fact is they are 4 quart pans. the filter holds 1 quart if you use the full size filter. or if you use the truck filter( like i do) it holds 2 quarts total 6 quarts.

Not all LT-1s had the 6qt ( counting oil filter ) oil pan. Most 1970 LT-1s and all ZR-1 motors. The pan was from the C2 Corvette parts bin.....used on 365hp and Fuelly motors. This pan will not work with factory power steering, I once owned a 65 365hp car where " bubba " had ingeniously welded a cut piece of exhaust tubing into the front sump of a 6qt pan...looked like crap! but cleared the PS ram
