What's wrong with a truck motor? A small block chevy is pretty much a small block chevy. 3 grand, though...that's a decent price.

Scotty,
The Truck motor the Corvette had, had no get up and go....I wanted something to bring this 1973 back to life.
Granted I could have rebuilt the motor but why? It was not the correct motor and would have cost more to build, find heads, pistons, machine work and what not than I paid for a new motor.
It was a Light Duty late M model motor made in Mexico. I don't know but it was mostly likely a 195-265 HP motor at the best.
I am not sure where you are located but this is the shop that has built / rebuilt a lot of engines for people I know. http://www.missionauto.com 2918 Roosevelt Ave. San Antonio, Texas 1 888 721 9663 210 921 2803
after rebuilding motors when i was in my 20's...i would never, ever, ever rebuild a motor again.. crate motors are the only way to go..
my thoughts are let people that do it all day long build the motor.... had great luck with zz small blocks and 502 bb's direct from chevy with simple roller cam swap and alum heads...stick the old motor in the corner...

I can understand that point of view, especially if you have had good luck with several crate motors. But I'm a grouchy old cynic! I can't help but think "Why let some dude who probably hates his job, doesn't care, and just smoked a joint during his lunch break build my engine?"
