In the pic below, the red wire on the far right is the one in question. It comes off of the loom behind the distributor. Please help....I am stumped
I'm new to vettes so this is just a guess.
It doesn't look like the stock loom. I wonder if that wire ties into the tach wire - my 78 has a wire that goes to a 'condenser' that was fastened to the intake. (to smooth out the signal?)
I can check tomorrow.

Your right, I had to do a lot of cleaning up of the engine compartment. I guess I just assumed it went to the dizzy. Below is a pic of the firewall after the engine was removed. The wire in question appears to be the one hanging down by the converter
Anything on the intake that has a single plug in ? Looks like there's a few things on the firewall that still need plugged in ... Where are you at with this project ? Buttoning everything up after a fresh engine?
I meant in the pic with the engine out... Obviously that was in the past... Lol. Could have been something on the old intake? Or... Electric choke ?

Electric choke is on the pass side and came I. On the same loom as the A/C. The water temp is below the alternator and the oil sending unit is accounted for.
I have the same wire on my 78, and it's not hooked up to anything, so that makes 2 of us that would like to know!! I don't have any of the air conditioning stuff in mine, I thought maybe it was something for that. It would be nice to know.
Just curious. The NCRS book says that if you have the delay option, the windshield wiper **** will have a white arrow. Without delay just plain. (this is what I have) and just low & high.
My engine bay has waaay too many cut wires from the shop that installed the 383... All ac components removed, all smog, cruise, etc... The wires are still long enough I COULD reroute them... If or when I choose to add some of the systems back... But I can't be of much more help here... Sorry.
Hmmm.
In this pic, you can see the yellow wire (tach wire you have for dist.) and the red wire in question plug into a - plug. From the other side of that plug it's a brown wire that goes to that condenser I spoke of - and from there to the dist. tach plug (where your yellow wire would plug) http://forums.corvetteforum.com/atta...1&d=1399599830
I think the yellow wire going to the condenser is correct - but that red wire appears to not belong in that plug. I removed it and it's just an empty slot - no terminal inside. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/atta...1&d=1399600036
So we still don't know!
That wiper thread, that was a pink wire - this ones definitely red.
(evidently I don't know how to get the pics/text where I want - but it's there!)
