Body Mount Bushings.

Body Mount Bushings.
Someone suggested that I change my original "old & worn out" body mount bushings to poly ones to cure some of my squeaks and rattles. How much time, money and work is this? Do you think this is the answer to my problem? Any experience out there?

Tai, not worth doig unless the rear two up behind the rear wheels are rusted out...look carefully at that square 'cup' that fastens to the body, and the mounts....these can be a bear to change, and sometimes need a blue tip wrench as do the rest of them....problem is, you can't hardly see the rest of them, except the first two birdcage ones' on the firewall...

I just replaced the two rear ones that mrvette is talking about. The metal cage was so bad that the mounts pushed through the fiberglass and caused it to squeak badly. I did not feel like messing with the rest of them because I didn't want to open up a can of worms. In order to fix the damage to the fiberglass I made some sheet metal plates to fit inside the top which gave me something to attach the nuts to. Then I replaced the bottom cage, bushings, and bolts. It was pretty tricky getting the new bushings into the frame hole; I cut out the side and slipped them in while I pushed up on the body. My squeak went away but now I have the rest of the bushings sitting around the garage because I had to buy the whole set. Maybe some day I will try to change the rest of them.
