Default exhaust manifold questions...

ive seen reproduction exhaust manifolds in riks for about 119.00 a piece....autzone says they can order manifolds for the vette for 115.00 a piece. much cheaper than the actual GM manifolds. i've thought about headers, but since it's a '74, i still have to get it smogged in CA and i am concerned that would screw with the emissions. any of you fellas had experience with repro exhaust manifolds? or am i barking up the wrong tree here...should i get the gm ones?

For about two years there has been a guy selling early Rams Horn 2.5 inch manifolds for 39.00 each on Ebay. They would need the generator stand ground off and drilled to install your AIR tubes but might be a viable option for you.

Or I think Hedman sells headers that will accept the AIR tubes and are 50 state legal

Just a thought :)

I would get the 2.5 inch exhaust manifolds. I think the one's on the 74's are only 2 inch kinda skimpin people on power.

I am not sure it would pass smog with headers but I believe your car will no longer need a smog cert. after 2004. So if you get it smogged now or in 2003 and smog is every 3 years, you should be able to do whatever you want after that final certification. get it smogged now and go to town.

really? no more smog after 2004? if that's true you made me the happiest guy alive. i know that smog pumps are rinky dink anyways cuz the car passed emissions without it....
