Default Starter Ground

Does the skinny black wire with the starter wires go under one of the two mounting bolts on a 78? Thanks in advance.

It should reach around to the nearest bell housing or auto transmission bolt to the motor.

Some have used the one starter mounting bolts to ground the starter. I have in the past before I got headers. Once my headers were installed, I moved it to a transmission bell housing bolt.

Make sure u have a ground strap from the block to the frame. Usually u find one on the starter side near the motor mount. Make sure u have one from block to frame other wise all your starter current and ignition current have to travel through the U-joint needle bearings to the frame and back to the batt because the motor mount is pretty much insulated. Those that eliminate that ground strap have some unique ign problems when driving.
