Default Tire wear, front, inner edges

Took the old girl for her annual saftey inspection today and was told I need 2 new tires on the front due to excessive wear on the inside edges.

I dont know a huge amount about tracking etc but on a car that has no wear in any of the suspension or steering parts could this be caused by either negative camber or excessive toe out? I havent taken her to be aligned yet but want to know what I am looking to be corrected.

A friend has suggested it is probaly too much toe out causing the wheels to scrub the inner edges and has said this could be rectified using the shims on the upper A arms.

Any advice appreciated.

your diagnosis sounds correct, toe out or negative camber both corrected by an alignment

Dont think so, both tires seem to be heavily but equally worn so Im guessing when the PO replaced all bushes etc, they didnt get her aligned.

Whilst reading another site, I found the following,
Excessive toe-out, or negative toe, increases scuffing on the inside of the tire, and in some cases can cause a darting or wandering problem
She has been wandering a little lately but I thought that was down to the poor road surface I was on but I assume that can exaggerate the situation.

I know people have different ideas on what the alignment should be but what are the specs for a stock car?
Looking at VBP they state for the fronts on a daily driver, Toe 1/32" in, Camber 0° neg Caster 2.75°
Is this much different from GM specs and if so, which would be recommended?
