Knocking sound after oil change.
Regarding the oil it is Valvoline TurboV and is recommended for all high performance engines as well as turbo motors. I was using Volvoline Racing oil in the Vette up untill recently but it became hard to get and expensive. I have used the TurboV in my daily drivers for a few years now without any problems.
Hey, we're currently at 72F - that's cooking!
You boys should try it up North 60F would be a good day, I can`t remember such a miserable summer in a long time.
Cheers

I always knew you "Surrey types" had more money than you like to admit! When's the BBQ and Clay Shoot??? :D
Actually, living in Surrey one doesn't want to brag about ones wealth, what with Royalty living close by, don't you know. I say, one wouldn't want to upset them, it would be terribly bad form (but we do send them a little something every Christmas & Easter), what.
We had a feast (BBQ to the lower classes) last year. You probably saw it on the National News, but the silly blighters reported it as a pile of dead cattle being burnt due to that Foot & Mouth shenanigans, the damn fools.
The household no longer engages in clay shooting, not since that unfortunate incident with the Olympic Hang Gliding Team. We find that the local Peasantry are far better sport than clays if we use the cannon on the roof loaded with grape shot.
Must dash old boy, one of the Tigers is eating the Peacocks & making a frightful mess of the lawns.
Tally Ho, raa-raa-raa.
 Silly Brits! :jester FYI
I`m Scottish, definitely not to be confused with your average clay pigeon shooting Southern English Softy.

J: How do you rate the heads that you've got (I've still got the standard heads & am trying to decide what to go for - I need MORE power!)? Got any idea on your 0 - 60 & 1/4 mile times?
Paul
p.s. send some of your weather down - it's 11.00am & 28C with high humidity :( Definately OK to run 20W/50 at the moment.

No wonder we built the wall :D :D
I noticed the Route 66 Randezvous pics on your site. Did you do that in 2001? We were there in 1999. Pretty awsome stuff!

I bought the Edelbrock kit from John Woolfe Racing and basically followed the engine build on the Edelbrock site for their Performer RPM set-up. I had mixed results, the RPM cam was all or nothing it screamed but had no bottom end below 3000rpm and wrecked the clutch in less than 500 miles. Even with the manual box it was no good around town and only came into it`s own on the open road. Hence the reason for the change to a Comp cam and a rather expensive twin plate clutch.
Everything else was spot on and worked straight out of the box. I was impressed with the quality of their bits although there are probably better heads on the market but at a price. The car had plenty of go and even with a slipping clutch and a horrendous 2.9 second 60 foot it ran 13.8@104 first time out at York Raceway without any tuning but with the clutch on it`s way it was all down hill after that. I havn`t ran it this year with the new cam but hopefully it will be a bit more drivable than it was last summer. I have a pair of good iron heads, a nice Crane cam, Holley carb, Torker inlet manifold and so on from it`s previous incarnation all with only a couple of thousand miles use which I might sell for the right offer. Matched with the RPM cam I have it would easily put you in the 13`s if you could put up with the drivability issue.
I am lucky enough to work for a company that has outfits in the States and Canada so I have been over a few times. The Route 66 meet in California was indeed awesome. I never saw so many nice cars in one place at the same time. I was staying in an apartment right on PCH and I had the pleasure of sitting watching Vettes and Hotrods rolling past the window all day. Ironically I was just about next door to the Edelbrock Factory and didn`t know until it was to late to visit, I`ve heard his cars are worth a look. I have also done Route 66 at the Chicago end and went to a big Vette show at the then newly opened Route 66 raceway, it was also Harley Davidsons 95th anniversary so it was wall to wall Vette and Hog heaven. I just need to persaude my boss to send me back again so that I can do the middle bit next time. Corvettes 50th or Harley`s 100th either one would do.
Cheers
J.
