Default 68 custom vert

just bought an older custom corvette vert with a tilt front end

car runs extremely hot in the interior and I can feel the heat from under the hood just wrapping around the windshield

car is running a bit hot too but not too bad. car was a super deal and will clean up nicely

Default Well good for you!

What's your plan for it? More than 508 RWHP?

This carpet set combined with Dynamat if you have the money will take care of the cabin heat.

As far as the heat from around the windshield I assume this is a non A/C car and the only way to fix that is to install A/C and keep the windows up.
As far as the overheating 200 to 210 is normal for a BB unless it has the original 4 core radiator and a 160 Thermostat which can get it down to between 180 - 190. Also if the radiator does not have seals between the radiator support and radiator plus the seal between the top of the radiator and hood will cause cooling problems. Does the modified front end have an air dam on the bottom or does it have a ground effects style on the bottom of it.

I'll post up pics soon.

the plan is extensive. a resto mod using a 4.8 LS TT build, 4L80E with paddles, megasquirt with 16 injectors (dual fuel), edlebrock hi rise intake

I have the block, pistons, rods, and may stay with the stock 4.8 short stroke crank. I also have LS6 heads but prefer to update to LSA heads if I can afford them

looking to go full boogie and yes, it will be about 800 at the tire like the Z06 TT only quite a bit lighter (which isn't easy)

might even put a big old beefy ford 9" modular rear in it if I break the stocker (and I will!!!)

it definitely needs all the heat shielding it can get. it's a 327 small block car and there is NO ducting at all and I'm sure with the custom front end quite a bit of air is flowing around the rad. also getting lots of heat coming out of the L88 style hood that just comes up and over the windshield

this thing is hotter than my old BB 71 !!!

so the plan is for some ducting, and likely some foam to seal the back of the hood to at least divert the airflow. going to upgrade to some C5 Z06 electric fans (have them lying around) as the current mechanical fan has no shroud at all. car runs around 210 which is OK for now.

be a good "cool morning driver" but she is a beauty and with some TLC will be a good driver and alot of fun. low "buyin price" of 10,500 is what got my attention

frame looks to be excellent as does bird cage and the tilt front end with the headlights "glassed in" and a billet grill with square lights behind it was the look I'm after

now to punch up the powa!!! time to boostamuv!~!

No shroud will make any car run hot period. Time to get those electric fans on. Also the shroud helps direct the hot air towards the passenger side gills if your car still has them. NEED PICS
