sharing my dream
The beautiful mess
Last night I got the rear suspension mounted and half shafts installed. As I was setting the chassis down on the ground, it occurred to me that this is the first time in ten years that my car has sat on tires, completely on its own running gear and with a complete drive line! It's a good feeling!
I have order a March serpentine system and a vintage air system for the car. Im super excited to see how everything fits once it arrives!
I have my March serpentine system installed and it looks amazing. I went with their outward mount system. They say it will fit so let's hope!
I've got my fuel system put together
Even test ran the engine and man did it sound amazing!
I still have some odds and ends to tie up on the chassis, but I started shifting gears onto the body. I've stripped out everything from the engine bay and got a good start on tearing out the interior.
It's kind of overwhelming seeing it like this. But I'm confident I will get through it and I know it will all be worth it!. I have a vintage air system on the shelf to put back in once I get everything cleaned up and painted. I also have a universal painless wiring kit to put in the car. And a Dewitts radiator with the dual spal fans on order
Painless lol
I've decided I'm going to convert the headlight doors to electric, and I'm also leaning very heavily towards investing in new updated gauges from Dakota Digital.
I have enough to keep me busy for a while. Right now my goal is to get the engine bay and underbody cleaned up and painted, and route wiring and reassemble everything else in the engine bay that makes sense to do so I can get the body married back to the chassis. Hopefully this will happen by fall.
He was the first to design an electric headlight system and if he is still selling them, his are the best manufactured.
Many forum members have purchased them and all give his five star reviews.
Richard doesn’t post on the CF much these days but I know he had a Facebook Forum.
My core support was rusted out, so I replaced it. I started installing a vintage air system.
I got an electric headlight conversion kit from richard454
And the biggest milestone was getting the body married back to the chassis!
I still have a long way to go but I feel like I've beat the odds at this point. I've throughly enjoyed every step of this process.
One of the first dates I had with my wife was sitting in the car in the garage at our old house going on a pretend drive and being clowns. All these years later, my amazing wife and I got to sit in that car again and go for another pretend drive and clown around. I'm blessed to have her support throughout this project!
