Heater hoses
Does it matter which hose connects to fill tank on a 1971.
Hose from water pump to tank , then from heater to tank then from manifold to heater.
I do not have my heater core connected. So I was going from water pump to tank and from manifold to tank.
Does it matter which of these goes to which opening of tank.

There are two different hose I.D. in question. The hose from the water pump to the expansion tank, and to the heater core is 3/4" I.D. The hose from the heater core to the intake manifold is 5/8" I.D. You cannot hook the 5/8" hose to the expansion tank, as the fittings are for the 3/4" I.D. hose. Fix or replace the core.

Your post is confusing. The 3/4" and 5/8" hoses do not go to the overflow tank. They go to the heater core. Please elaborate.
