I just got done talking to my buddy on the internet. He ran into my ex-best friend and got to talking with him. My ex-best friend is the one who is dropping a 318 into his S10 . I guess during their conversation Ryan brought up my name. Ryan was down at the 1/4 strip whenever I ran my car. My buddy said that Ryan told him "my car ran like crap." Ryan asked my buddy what he thought of my car and my buddy said "I think his car is wicked fast!" Ryan responded with "wait till I get my 318 built and I'll take you for a ride."
So anyway, they have a garage in town that we call MOPAR garage. It houses 2 Dusters and my buddys S10. The one Duster has a 318 with dual quads that is "supposed" to be fast....however he refuses to run it down at Keystone. The other Duster has a 383 in it and it has run a best of 12.50 down at the track (it ran 12.80 when I was down there). So my buddy really shouldn't be calling my car crap if I ran .10 slower than the 383 Duster.
I talked to my buddy and once I get the new intake on and get everything tuned up (which should be Tuesday), we're going to stop in front of MOPAR garage when they are all outside talking amongst each other and do the meanest burnout to date :D. Hopefully they'll come looking for me.
Please keep in mind these are the people that were making fun of me for the longest time about building a big block, telling me I'm going to twist my car in half etc...etc...
I know I shouldn't be upset....but I am. Not that he made fun of my car, but that he did it behind my back. I think I'm going to get my buddy to snap some photos of their faces while I'm doing the burnout :D

Do youself a favor, don't give in to them. If a cop comes by and you get nailed, they will be laughing at you for a long time. It something does break while you're smokin' em, they will laugh at you even longer. It's not worth it. Keep it to the track and/or keep them guessing. You know what you got. They'll learn soon enough.
Don't do it Bence. Be the Bigger Guy here. I was doing a little showing off one day and my secondary needle stuck in the carb. Well the car died and I looked like an idiot.
What you need to do is get your buddy to start a rumour that you and your ex-best freind are racing at the track next week. Then he will show up.
He knows what will happen if he does not.
I agree with 78Vette-SA... You can give them a little taste of what could be but save the upper half of your power for the track... + your car must really be a thrill to drive - here in LA the problem is not enough road and too much traffic to really see anything over 4000 rpm in the upper gears.
I would just ignore this past friend and move along. Do not tell all about what you are doing to your motor to keep him guessing. If he wants to find out put out the word that it is going to have to be at the track, when and if he gets this S10 built. Regardless of the outcome, you will still be driving a vette and he will have an S10. Why are you even worried about this person?!?
Uh... Bence... Last I checked this kind of stuff is supposed to end with high school. Its one thing to have a rivalry going, its another to have this kind of petty crap and he said (s)he said junk going on all the time. Would it be too terribly hard to just say "well that guy's a moron" and call it a day?
Maybe I'm missing the point entirely here or something, but come on...grow up and leave this guy in grade school.

build your car the way you want to, do worry about how some guy you don't like is building his truck. Be the bigger man, and enjoy your vette, his truck will always be an s10 no matter what he does to it.
Cruz:
I'm not sure, I'll have to look into that. He won't run me though....nor will the 318 Duster. The guy with the 318 Duster is building a 383 or a 440 for it, mainly because myself and my buddy went with big blocks.
What exactly is grudge match racing? :D Sounds interesting.
I want to see more timeslips! Times improve with practice. I really have ZERO patience, interest, time, whatever for people that talk trash and wont even run their car at the track. MJ
If you take them to the track you can blow them so far into the weeds, they
will use the tach as a compass to find their way out. Pay backs can be sweet.
Matt:
I'm not sure I believe he was referring to the time I ran at the track (12.9). I had so many things out of whack that I'm still amazed it went into the 12s. With my new jets in the carburetor, the black smoke should be a thing of the past.
I'm going to challenge them to race down at Keystone. The only thing is that the "MOPAR garage" also houses a Coronet R/T that runs high 10s down the 1/4 (not street legal). It has aluminum rods, huge slicks and is a full-on drag car. Knowing them, they'll probably show up in the Coronet.
Once I get the motor back together, I'll stop over at their garage and issue the challenge :D
Shane, you built the BB for your fun. It sounds like you are trying to force them to join in on your fun. That IS a commendable social behaviour; however, my guess is that they aren't interested due to some kind of personal problems that they have.
I don't think you should be the one trying to get them to race. I certainly would not recommend stopping at their shop and "issuing" a challange...it would just be a bad scene! What I DO recommend is having fun with your car racing the people that already show up at the track. Hey, there must be like at least 20 new possible friends each week. After a few weeks (or months) of weekly racing I'm sure those X friends of yours will be sucking their hearts out when people they meet tell them about Shane's BB that KICKS ARZ!!!
Also, keep the big burn outs on the track, the street has too many loose pebbles and such that really cause the differential limited slip clutches to bang away at each other and could crack your carrier like it did mine. Good burn outs are not that bad, but full WOT burn outs on the street could do some damage. You also don't want to lose your license over those jokers.
