Hey strangers, it has been a while but I still have my Corvette and actually fired it up for the first time in like 3 years the other day. My main problem is that I have some clearence issues under the hood. I have a '76 Corvette, L88 Hood, 454 Big Block, Weiand Team G Intake and a Holley 1050 Dominator. The Moroso air cleaner that I am using isn't the low profile version and it isn't even close to allow.g my hood to close. I absolutely do not want to switch to a big cowl induction hood...I don't really like how they look on C3s and it is already hard enough to see out of. Has anyone run into this specific issue and how did you solve it? Thanks for the help and it feels great to be back!
Hey stranger, how have you been Jim? Thanks a bunch for the links, I am fairly sure guy the air cleaner with the 2" drop base will give me the room I need. I have a Morons air cleaner that has no drop to it and my hood is not even close to closing lol. I like the look of my L88 hood and was dreading having to change it. Thanks a bun!ch Jim
I use a K&N dropped base with a 2 inch element and a filter top. I'm not sure if they sell a bigger diameter like a 1050. I got it from summit racing.
I guess that you finished school in your time away?
Gkull, regretfully no I never did. I still have a 3.0 and a junior standing. I worked at Bally Total Fitness as a trainer/assistant manager for the 3 years I lived in Atlanta. I also got to meet/talk to and watch The Zac Brown Band about 13 times at a very small bar called The Dixie Tavern about 1 1/2 years or so before they hit it big. I moved home from Atlanta to help my father with our laundrymat. The 3 years in Atlanta were the wildest. My dad ha MS and his health was declining so I moved home. 2014 has been by was the worst year of my life. I lost my father January 14th at the age of 61. My mom lost her high school sweetheart and soulmate. I am glad I chose to leave the fun times in ATL to grow up and help my dad....I wish I had done it sooner. Watching him slowly fade away is a feeling I will never truely forget. More bad news came this month when my grampa (my mom's father) passed away from a stroke....strangely on the 14th just like my father. My Corvette has so much sentimental value, I could never part with it. My father purchased brand new in 1976 as a wedding present for my mom. My grampa served in the Navy during WW2, he was a mechanic and worked on the fighter planes. After all of this I promised myself I would he the car out this year. How have you been friend?
I'm doing good...... parents departing is a tough thing. I also have reasons for never selling my 79 vette. It is like an old friend. Other cars come and go.
The economic down turn really hurt historic racing that I was involved in. The race shop is a shell from the hay days. From an expensive stable of 12 cars to maybe 5-6 for the Monterrey Historics. I still do an occasional race and spend my time as a driving instructor.
