Default "Cloudy" rear window on the soft top

Any ideas how to clear this up. I have seen the spray in "MAD" vette catalog, but wanted to hear any real life experiences. I keep a towel on the plastic and fold the top against it to prevent this from happening, but just need some input.

Thanks

I'm not sure what causes it, but I've narrowed it down to:

Intense sun
wrong/any cleaners
Cigarette smoke
small (really small!) scratches

I've had many 'verts, and there also seems to be a wide range in the quality of the plastic on replacement tops.
