I have extracted pics out of my restore post to get some technical advise. I have a 69 base model and I am trying to see why the power steering pump pulley is not lining up with the crank pulley. I am also not sure based at looking at the timing plate if my damper in in all the way. I torqued it to 60lbs. Don't want to brake off that bolt. Any help or ideas would help. Bubba put washers behind the power steering pulley to move it out a touch. Hard to tell from angle but power steering pulley is about a 1/4 inch back. I will get a pic of the pulley tomorrow.

Nice looking engine
Did you use an installation tool to install the damper, or just use the retaining bolt torqued to 60 ft.lbs.?
If you didn't use an installation tool, it could be the damper isn't all the way on. It's hard to tell from the picture, but it might be a little too far away from the block.

Is everything original? Are you SURE? My 72 BB has a myriad of pulleys, brackets and bubba junk. I thought it was all original too. I had to fab some spacers on my crank pulley (it was a 2 piece design...that I think was a bubba creation). My only other choice was to spend HUGE bucks on a total pulley and bracket kit....

I did not use a damper tool. I will look into getting one because I think it can go in a little more but don't want to break the crank bolt. Thanks for responding.

Yes bubba had been here , the trouble is where was he and what did he touch. Finding things out as I go along. Making the assumption that everything is stock is wrong and I hate surprises. Thanks

I had the same issue with mine recently. Make sure all pieces are correct like Scottd said. You definitely need a harmonic balancer tool to put it back on correctly. You big chain auto stores should rent them for free (with deposit). I though I was gonna break the tool just to get mine all the way on untill pulleys lined up.

Well I got the damper tool and re-did the damper. It may have moved but not that much. Trying to see if power steering pump is right. Wondering if there is a pump with a longer shaft.
