The radiator on my 1970 Coupe is leaking like the Governments bank account. The radiator is a copper and brass radiator. Do I replace it with the same type of should I go with aluminum? I have a 350/350 engine with air conditioning and 4-speed transmission. I am torn both ways on replacement. Need pros and cons of each to help with deciding which to use. Donations accepted as well.
Dewitts is best for aluminum for direct fit. You could send your original to get fixed. I heard a lot of guys do it who wanted to keep it original and I also heard of people adding an extra row not sure how it work but they open em up clean em and weld em back.

DeWitts has a well-deserved reputation here for a high quality product, but you will pay a premium price as well. I had trouble justifying that kind of money for what I was trying to do. I bought a Champion aluminum radiator, with dual electric fans for about $350, bought a wiring harness from Jegs, and I am good to go. The car runs much cooler, and I now have no leaks. I am a happy customer.
I don't doubt that DeWitts product is the best quality aluminum radiator for our cars, but with a limited budget I just could not justify spending $1,000 for a radiator and dual fan setup that I wanted.
I will not post where I got my radiator and fans from, but if you PM me, I will let you know.
1970coupe go aluminum, better cooling and the security of knowing the motor will stay nice and cool. I had my original repaired and preserved. For the cost of a repaired original you can buy new. I have a Dewitt's, but there are other options available, like Be-cool, Griffin, etc
The leaking radiator that I have now, is my original radiatior, it first had a leak many years ago. It had the core replaced then and has been on the car since. I found a radiator shop fairly close and had them pressure test the radiator. Water was running our faster than he could put it in. Not able to be fixed was the final word. The shop advised me about the foreign radiators made of copper as well, not very good work as a general rule. So with the responses I have been getting I am leaning for an aluminum radiator. All I have to do now is gently break the news to my little coupe, about the transplant.
My old radiator did cool well and without any problems. Other than having to be re-cored many years ago. Just the idea of putting in an aluminum radiator is something that I have to get comfortable with, and being an "old school kind of guy", or is that "old guy"! The "coupe" is currently getting a new lease on life with a little rewire, some new tires, new paint, and a couple of other little new items. Items which seem to increase in number each day.
