is the problem air flow or temperature? if there is plenty of air coming from the heater box and no obstructions that is all you will get as far as flow.

I had a similar situation on my 81. My problem was a vacuum leak which was interfering with the blend door and other vacuum HVAC functions. My leak was in the T fitting in which a 3/8 inch line had a 1/8 inch line running to the center if the firewall by the blower relay. In the picture it is the small line between the blower relay and a much larger vacuum line. Fixing the vacuum leak at the T fitting was a snap. Auitozone
sells a replacement T for $2
You might also make sure the ducts are tight where they are connected. If loose, some of your air could be going behind the dash. You might seal the connections with what else, duct tape. You should also check the vent connections for the same problem.
Good Luck,
Bill
More than likely the A/C is working fine. I had the same trouble with my 79 and I used the suggestions from a book by Michael J Davis called AIR CONDITIONING STRATEGIES for the 63-82 CORVETTE published by Prestige Publishing. Your problem is a common one and not a quick fix but don't let that get you down. I did most of his tricks to mine and got the cabin temp down 20 degrees. Vent temps dropped from upper 70's to to lower 50's! No lie! You can chill beer with mine.
I think I bought mine from Ecklers but not sure. It's been years ago. Try Amazon.
Hope this helps and good luck.
P.S. 134a works just fine.

i have seen problems with no air coming oujt of the vents...turned out some one had replaced the blower and hooked the wires backwards, the motor was running in reverse.swap the wires back and blows fine.
C4 squirrel cage works great but is a bit longer so you have to fabricate a spacer. 20 something at Advance Auto and worth every cent. It's the first step.
Hey, I did that all that crap in the book and it freaking works.
Give it a try. It'll make your GF's nipples proud. Her make-up won't melt off before you get to dinner and you might look cool and get lucky that night
Sorry for the sticker shock fellows. I had no idea I was sitting on gold. I bought both books for less than 20 bucks! I thought about getting my little girl to copy it to a PDF file or something. I dunno. Is that legal? Any lawyers out there?
