Default Ignition Switch

1970 Corvette 4-speed L-46.

I have no power when I turn my ignition switch to "accessory", everything else works great. It has been this way since I first bought the car and it's next on the list of things to fix. The reverses lockout is currently disabled so that is not the issue. I'll hook that all up once I get the ignition system all working.

By any chance does the accessory circuit have it's own fuse? It would be awesome if it was something that simple

The ignition switch the key goes into is new and was just replaced. I assume the next item I should replace is the actual ignition switch at the base of the steering column? Does this sound reasonable? Anything else I should check first? Any words of wisdom in regards to changing the switch?

What I would do is loosen the two screws (small 6-sided sheet metal screw at each end) on the ignition switch so it can just be moved. Put the key in the ACC position and then gently push the switch toward the floorboard and see if you get power to your accessories. If you do, lock the screws down and then try the key in the other positions. If everything works as designed, you are good to go.

If this doesn't work then disconnect the plug and remove the switch to look it over. It is not unusual for the metal "fingers" at each end of the switch that hold the switch together to loosen over time. Sometimes you can simply squeeze the "fingers" together carefully and eliminate the problem.

Let us know how it turns out.

Good luck... GUSTO

the actual igintion switch needs adjustment with the key lock.
lossen switch assemble, push swith towards lock until the acc. stuff turns on,
while holding swtich position, now tighten down the screws for the switch.

ps. any time a swith or lock are replaced, this adjustment should be checked.

The accessory terminal is protected by the fuse to the RIGHT of the terminal.
Could be marked RADIO, but look to be sure.
