Hi everyone....I too have been lurking for about a month. Just bought a 1976 Corvette L-82 about 2 months ago, though I just got it this past weekend.
I am fairly new to cars and corvette especially (this being my fist one). Though I am already hooked, which does ot make my wife very happy. Anyways, I am probably going to have a lot of questions....some/most of them will probably be dumb questions. But I have found that the best way to learn is to ask people ho know what they are talking about.
I am hping to take pictures tonight with the dig camera to post.
Welcome.. No question is a dumb one.. well there was that one where this guy wanted to know.... Ask away.. A dumb question is one you ask after you break it..

I will tell you all the truth. I know so little about cars, that I am reading your sigs and have no clue what most of them mean. Now...if you would ask me about the specifications about the new Dept of Homeland Security, I could answer you.
Any sites or books that will give me a basic breakdown of cars/engines in general.

You are in the right place to acquire information.. I learned a LOT here...

I don't think that would be a good idea. There may be some Taliban Vette owner out there lurking!! :jester
I'm not sure the Assembly Instruction Manual is geared toward people with
no car experience/knowledge. There is much info - but probably too much.
I bought the Corvette Restoration Guide 68-82 (by Prince). It wasn't what
I had expected to get, but it gives a factually walk through the varieties
of C3s (3rd generation vettes) that were produced - and the subtle to not
so subtle differences.
Mostly, you can read here. You will learn so much more from peoples'
experiences than you will from a book.
(Officially addicted to the CorvetteForum !!) wife hates it
:seeya
Hopefully you have a good public library nearby. You should be able to find several books on automotive basics, restoration, and even Corvettes in particular. Ours is fast becoming a lost art -- welcome to the wonderful world of tinkering with cars!
