Default Broken Window Sash Channel Rear

Hi guys,
Been fixing up the windows on my 68 convertible.

Discovered a broken Window Glass Sash Channel Rear Guide Part number - 3930447

From my limited knowledge this was only on the 68 and early 69s.
have searched a few of the common suppliers and not found any replicas, although there is the odd one on ebay.

Quick question
Is it necessary? Trying to get my head around the difference between the 68 and later models.

The 68 window is different and that part is necessary for correct operation.

Odd how that is broke. It's needed to keep the window rollers and tracks lined up properly. I swear I have seen that in one of the catalogs recently. (Corvette America, Ecklers, etc)

Thanks for the tip I'll have another dig through the catalogs again to see if I can find it.
Either way I can fab one out of a slide which is easy to get, or weld this one

Your right it is an odd part to break in this manner
It has been welded previous in a different spot.
Was wondering if it was a window alignment problem, or just fatigue caused by other worn parts.

This part is common to 1968 only cars.. and to my knowledge, no one is making this channel.. However, I think you could make it from the lower glass channel from a 1969 and newer car.... I think..http://willcoxcorvette.com/product_i...ducts_id=27922

The only issue is I'm out of town for the next 17 days and have no way to verify it for you. If you can hold off till then when I return I'd be more than happy to verify this.

cheers Wilcox, have compared the lower channel and you are right I should easily be able to fab one from it.

another question.
I found out why the part had broken, the glass is not original, it is from an newer model C3 which is missing some of the holes to mount the sash channel, so bubba had mounted it with only one bolt and over time it had fatigued.

As the glass is from a newer C3 can I mount the glass with the conventional C3 mounting method?
Ie not use the sash at all and put the back slide connector directly into the bottom channel? The bottom channel looks like it is a new model as well.
I see wilcox from your website that the channel listed must be used with all new glass.

Am thinking the install will actually be easier without it, have done some quick comparisons and looks like it should all line up and be fine.

Makes me wonder why bubba put in the sash at all, am I missing something?

Because.. Bubba... he trolls around all of us..

If you have the 69 and later glass... use the lower channel I posted on my site.. mount and run the glass like it was a 69 and you'll be fine..

Willcox <--- Note two L's.. lol...
